S/4 Product Compliance - NEW Dangerous Goods Management, compliance requirements

Hi all,

I am exploring the Dangerous Goods Management solution in more detail to see if it will be a good fit my customer and I have a few technical questions. This will be based on S4HANA 2023 on premise. I would appreciate this greatly if anyone can answer these and forgive me if they are obvious questions:

• On S4HANA 2023, will the regulatory content be updated regularly, and how often would it be updated? I see in the articles and material that the regulatory updates would be done, but not sure if it is exclusive to the S4HANA Cloud? Please tell me how it works
• What is the process of creating your own compliance requirement if the regulatory SAP-enabled compliance requirements are not sufficient? I understand that only “text-based” compliance requirements are allowed. Can this be configured so that it can determine the correct labels and placards and UN numbers? If it cannot be determined automatically, can labels/markings be manually assigned?
• For SAP-enabled regulatory compliance requirements, I understand that labels can be determined automatically. If hypothetically a label is missing from the compliance requirement, can we add a new manually label? And if so, what is the process?

If anyone has insights to the above then that would be great.

So in answer to the first question - basically the regulations for Dangerous Goods do not get regularly updated in On-Premise 2023 - this feature will only be available in 2025. I do agree with you that this is disappointing, because my client deems this feature critical - the regulations must stay up-to-date at all times. I see the benefit of this solution where it is a guided approach, improves efficiency, and auto-calculates and auto-suggests the correct dangerous goods information and labels. The benefit of this is lost if the regulations do not get updated. It sounds like we have to wait until this feature is implemented in 2025 (or use the cloud version) to make this solution useful.

Thanks Pablo for the response and the link! It concludes that the continuous regulatory content is not available in S4HANA 2023, and that we may have to wait until 2025 (or use the cloud version, which is not possible in our scenario). My client deems it critical for regulations to be kept up-to-date, and so without this feature, I cannot see how this module can meet their purpose. This is a shame because the actual solution it's process and integration works very well. Are there absolutely no alternatives at this point? This client only works with a small amount of UN numbers. I think as a suggestion if the regulatory update feature can be delivered as a future service pack then that would be amazing. Or if the ability to configure existing regulatory-based compliance requirements ourselves would have been fantastic. Shashi.
