hi krishna,

netweaver is a web-based, open integration and application platform which is used for integration and alignment of people, information, and business processes across business and technology boundaries.

And xMII is one of the xApps. SAP xApps are composite applications which can combine Web services and data from multiple systems. Its architecture is defined by the SAP Composite Application Framework within the SAP NetWeaver platform.

I hope this clears your doubt.

Thanks,

Sushma.

Pls. award points if answer found useful.

Hi chaitanya,

I want to add few more points about xMII.

It's basically a Lighthammer product.Previously it was known by this name.

SAP adopt this product from Lighthammer and named as Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence.

xMII bridge the gap between shop floor and rest of enterprise.

It provides integration for SAP and other systems using various connectors.

It have logic editor for data manipulation and to perform business operations.

While

SAP NetWeaver is the next-generation services-based platform that will serve as the foundation for all future SAP applications. NetWeaver comprises several technologies and components: a portal framework, business intelligence and reporting, Business Process Management (BPM), integration, Master Data Management (MDM), a common run-time application server, and the SAP application development and management platform.

To clarify this for everyone:

xMII version 12.0 is built on NetWeaver Web Application Server (Java version). It integrates intimately with all NetWeaver functionality (BI, Portal, XI).

xMII 11.5 has an almost identical level of integration with NetWeaver, but does not require NetWeaver WebAS to run.

SAP xMII is the product on which manufacturing composites and applications are recommended to be built.

Hi,

xMII 12.0 will run only on SAP J2EE WebAS (Netweaver 04s).

Check <a href="/people/dipankar.saha3/blog/2007/03/14/the-making-of-a-powerful-composite-integrating-sap-xmii-with-guided-procedure Making Of A Powerful Composite : Integrating SAP xMII With Guided Procedure</a> for your last query.

Thanks,

Dipankar
