Hi All,

Would like your guidance/Pointers on the following Topics:

  • Approach For Migration of SDS Reports from Legacy System to SAP EHS Report Management
    1. We have a Legacy system to generate the SDS and are stored in SharePoint folder. we would like to migrate these SDS documents to the corresponding Specifications in SAP EHS as an One time activity.
    2. After completion of the migration, User would be Using SAP EHS to generate the Further Versions of the SDS.

  • There is need to have Emergency Data Sheet (EDS) in EHS some countries-
    1. Any points if there are standard Report templates provided by SAP for this as part of SERC ?
    2. Any reading materials on EDS for Brazil ?

Thank you in advance for your inputs.

Hello Gaurish,

There is a SAP Standard Report available to Import reports into SAP EHS.

You need to create so called key-files with meta Information (SUBID, Gnerationvariant; MSDS-Language, MSDS-Version etc. + a link to the actaul PDF File).

If you want to use the automated SDS Shipment from the SAP Sales and Distribution modules (Delivery / Order creation):

You need to customize (+ custom development) the report shipment process.

It get's quite a bit tricky to send legacy and SAP EHS generated SDS at the same time - which I assume you would want to do.

SERC only provides SDS / eSDS (extended SDS for the EU) - but no EDS to my knowledge.

I'm not aware of 'EDS'.

Is this something similar to TREMCards?

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your comments. Could you share any information on the standard SAP report available for this? Any documentation / links explaining the report function and key files concept would help a ton!

Yes, I mm anticipating the challenging in synchronizing the Meta Data of Migrated documents and SDS generated in the future.

yes EDS is similar to a TREM card in Europe but with Green border.  Like this: http://www.singer.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Ficha-de-Emerg%C3%AAncia-ingl%C3%AAs.pdf

SAP Standard actually even has a transaction for this - see SAP help:

Report Import: Process - Basic Data and Tools (EHS-BD) - SAP Library

The big challenge is to get the system to be able to send inbound as well in SAP EHS generated SDS .....

Ah ok - basically the most important info of the SDS on one sheet.

Hope this helps

Hi Mark,

The Link you shared was very useful. I Read the related links too.

But one question remains, how do I generate the .KEY File?

Any help on  that is welcome

Dear Gaurish

you have two options for reports: (or: these options are used in > 95% of the cases)

1.) option explained by Mark ==> key file must be prepared manually (as you are not using a SAP legacy source system); but mass upload is possible

2.) you have one by one upload without key file option. ==> please just check SAP online help; you should find this option (and option is discussed often here) (check e.g. ; transaction code

IMPORT VENDOR MSDSCG36VEN

The cg36 option is sometimes "hated" by consultants (because of the key file topic) but it is a very nice option for mass upload of SDS and other reports as well (but you need to understand process and customizing steps !)

Hello Gaurish,

But one question remains, how do I generate the .KEY File?

You can use what ever tool you like to generate the key file - SAP doesn't provide a tool for that.

Since your files and meta data are on a share point side it should be fairly easy to get the meta data into an excel file.

-> I would recommend writing an Excel macro to generate the key files.

Kind Regards

Mark

P.s.: Please mark the question as answered

Hi Gaurish,

To achieve you requirement you have to do LSMW by which you can get & Specification Header data, After that you have to import property tree (if you buy content from SERC).

We can import phrases also....

After completion we can change the version in generation variant and template.

  1. Any points if there are standard Report templates provided by SAP for this as part of SERC ?

Yes, SAP will provide its based on which property tree your going to be use sap will give template for standard PT which can cover all regulations.

  1. Any reading materials on EDS for Brazil ?

What is EDS (Emergency Data Sheet )? Is it Electronic or Emergency?

i think this helped on your query

Thanks

Hi Satyanarayana,

Sorry, but you misread my question.

We already have specifications, property tree and the specification data in the EHS. now we have to migrate SDS document files which are stored in a legacy system into EHS for the related specifications.

SAP SERC package doesn't include Template for Emergency data sheet - it only includes for SDS.
