In the dtype.xml file is setted by default the creation of additional originals of your DIR. The RHM workstation application manage the 3D files used for the 3D preview in ECTR.
You need to check if your SAP system customizing have been properly setted. You can check - and eventually define the workstation application - by DC30 transaction.
