Hi product compliance team, hi guys,
today I am looking working in Substance Volume Tracking [SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2408], however; the topics belongs to the handling of the compliance requirement versions.
The help.sap.com states: "Normally, when a new version is activated, the older version is set to Inactive."
Better and more precise would be a text as "normally, when a new version gets activated, the system sets the predecessor version to inactive" 🙂
Starting point: the Apr.2021 is historical but still active. This is a valid use cases.
I am on the way to activate the latest available version...
I activate it.
add legal area for composition
System states that the activation takes place and that the previous requirement is deactivated...
So far, so good...
However; for me ist seems that it is still active...
The application log does not state anything...
So I was required to deactivate it manually...
Did I do something wrong or why the "old" compliance requirement version was not deactivated?
Thanks
Harry

Hi @Former Member, for your situation, yes you need to manually deactivate the old version because the old version needs to first be replaced by the new version in compliance assessments of the compliance view. This can be the case when both are still active because both are still valid. This can sometimes happen, so therefore in order to protect products in different scenarios; the situation is possible. Once the new version is active, all assessments are recalculated and then old version can then safely be deactivated without causing any issues. Here is a short bit from the Help Portal which I think provides additional information.
Get a list of the activated compliance requirement versions so you have an overview of which compliance requirement versions are being used.
Set an active compliance requirement version to inactive so that it can’t be used anymore in your products.
Stay informed if an active compliance requirement version has been updated so you can decide if the relevant safety data sheet assessments have to be recalculated.
Get a list of the inactive compliance requirement versions so that you can decide if any of them need to be activated.
In case of compliance requirements using the Components with Occupational Exposure Limits or the Hazardous Ingredients compliance patterns, during activation, select your preferred legal area needed to determine the precise composition. The composition is used as base data for propagation, calculation, and substance selection. You can revise the customer-specific regulatory lists that are assigned to the requirement. You can also view the delivered regulatory list assignments to this requirement. Once you've carried out the configuration, you can activate the requirement for use in follow-on business processes.
Trigger the recalculation of Occupational Exposure Limits (OEL) assessments that were calculated for a specific compliance requirement version when the version has been changed or corrected.
You activate compliance requirement versions in the Activate Compliance Requirements – Safety Data Sheet app after the content provider or product stewardship specialist for product compliance has created and released them in the Manage Compliance Requirements - Safety Data Sheet app. The product stewardship specialist for product compliance can add active compliance requirements to compliance purposes in the Manage Compliance Purposes app, and activate new compliance purposes. The product stewardship specialist for product compliance can assign active compliance purposes to products, and the master data specialist for product compliance can assign compliance purposes to raw materials.
I hope this helps to clarify, we are working on improving the information in the Help Portal and automating the Content Service more and more to make the entire compliance requirement version activation and deactivation easier.

Hi Michael (@Michael_Mulder),
thanks for your feedback.
As the system gave the message that the previous one was deactivated and the previous one was already historical, I thought the dectivation is done by the system 🙂
It is not an issue to deactivate the CRs manually, it is just important to know this (and now I do).
Thanks
Harry
