First off, Like Ryan I too am bias towards xMII. Secondly I don't know that much about TIBCO, but here are some questions you ask in order to compare xMII with TIBCO:

1.) xMII is a very good data aggregate where you the customer determines what you need and how to use it. Does TIBCO have this functionality? Your applications come first in xMII, the functionality is not limited to just a set of canned KPIs, you can quickly and easily add new KPIs dependant on your needs.

2.) Shop floor connectivity is critical, Does TIBCO have the connectivity that xMII offers?

3.) xMII has great performance and is light weight. Unlike most 'Enterprise Level' application platforms, SAP xMII considers real-time to be in the order of seconds to minutes, not days or weeks. The largest overhead in an xMII installation (minus any other SAP systems) is NetWeaver.

Try to figure out you scenario, find all the business requirements you need, then check out xMII's abilities vs TIBCO. I think you'll agree that xMII can handle what ever TIBCO offers and most likely even more.

Martin.

I have very good knowledge of xMII , I don't have any issues.

But couple of my friends asked this question. Tibco can be used for integration purpose ( they have couple of case studies with Aspen ) even it can generate KPI's . This is just a open question . People who got knowledge of TIBCO and xMII can clarify this .

Gunadhara,

Think of it this way, can you think of anything that xMII can't do that TIBCO can? What about anything that TIBCO can do that xMII can't (not very likely)? Also, what is the implementation timeline for TIBCO, I'd bet xMII to do the same thing is shorter and more flexible.

Thanks for the replay SAM. Since i don't have much knowledge of TIBCO , I posted this question .

xMII is one of the complete tool .with respect to speed / integration capabilities / and ++++ ,

but i am not sure whether TIBCO is capable of doing the same thing . Tibco has couple of case studies with ASPEN and Wonderware .

WonderWare is a partner with SAP and has a certified xMII Composite.

As for AspenTech, their IP21 system is a supported datasource for xMII and many customers are using it. What more are you looking for?

Gunadhara,

Check out some of the xMII knowledge base on the SAP portal (http://www.sap.com/solutions/manufacturing/index.epx) Wiki (https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/xMII) and you can make your own decisions. The opinions on this forum will definitely be biased towards xMII, but they are biased for a good reason. The xMII product is unparalleled in manufacturing systems integration, to your enterprise and for generating detailed reports for all levels of people in your organization.

Yes, I agree with Sam. As a complete package, there is nothing out there that comes close to xMII. There are some softwares that might do certain pieces of xMII better than xMII, but they also lack in the other areas of xMII.

For example, some packages have super fancy visualizations, but lack even simple drill-down capabilities or time-series x-axes and forget about integration to other systems.

xMII, but I'm biased.
