BOM's with operation allocation, phantom assembles, co products, By products

Dear Experts,

Kindly let me know the business purpose/ reason why the BOM's with operation allocation, phantom assembles, co-products & By-products are only be sent to SAP ME within production orders.

Why cannot they transferred to SAP ME as normal we transfer SAP ERP BOM ??

Hi Praveen,

The transfer setup of alternative boms , co products, phantom etc is not supported because those will be not useful set of data in the Me system ,if the production order is not going to contain them.

Since, the ME system is primarily used to support activities on the floor or production line, the data associated with production order is deemed with highest priority.

The design enables to configure it for production order and then release it to the shop floor and avoids any configuration/changes at the floor level and also possibly keeps the SAP ME system with efficient perfomance.
