I am currently working on a project that involves configuring the settings for Information Lifecycle Management (1KA). Given the critical nature of these settings, I wanted to reach out to see if you or anyone in your network has any experience or detailed insights with this specific scope item.

As the SAP Standard settings are empty I'm searching for best practices for the SAP FI objects in SAP Public Cloud.

I wanted to ask if we have any best practice settings or configuration in the area of finance objects a previous customer project that could serve as a reference. This would be extremely helpful and save valuable time. Any advice, best practices, or resources you could share regarding Information Lifecycle Management (1KA) would be immensely helpful and greatly appreciated!!

Hello,

With details in 1KA, you will be able to configure ILM for your scenario.

The main points you need to consider are:

1. Identify the ILM objects in scope for your scenario.

2. Determine the retention periods to be maintained for these various business objects.

3. Maintain ILM configurations  -

a. Assign ILM object to an existing audit area or a new one. (ensure you match the type  -  Residence rules and Retention rules). Retention rules are mandatory.

b. Maintain ILM policies and rules. Define retention periods for the object. Set the policy to status "Live"

Refer 1KA for more details steps.

4. Schedule the processes -  Archiving or Destruction.

The scheduled processes are triggered by technical job at definite time. After the process is executed, you can check the job logs and application logs in the apps - Monitor Archiving Jobs or ILM Data Destruction.
