Can we use peo instead of plm. Business currently using team Center. Can it be replaced by peo alone. can team centre be integrated with sap with peo or PLM

In what situation we use Plm and peo

can you elaborate a bit what you are trying to achieve?

SAP Production Engineering & Operations is an S/4HANA based solution for complex manufacturing, e.g. airplanes and ships.

SAP's S/4HANA based PLM capabilities like for example Change Record and Change Master play a role in the transition of engineering information into SAP from 3rd party PLM solutions like Siemens Teamcenter, which includes handover from EBOM to MBOM for use in SAP PEO.

There are dedicated scenarios for provisioning Siemens Teamcenter engineering data to SAP PEO as part of the SAP's PLM System Integration solution, which ties into Siemens SAP facing offering.

Thanks for the reply. The business (Aircraft) uses Siemens NX18 for CAD drawings, moves it to Siemens Teamcenter for BOM structure, and then creates the BOM materials in SAP (With ECN) by manually copying the data from Teamcenter. Also, ECNs are manually created and linked to products in SAP. Now they would like to automate the process of manual copying and pasting of products from the Teamcenter to SAP with ECN. (Need mass creation of ECN and Mass Linkage of products to ECN). Also, they would like to opt for PEO. Can we Use PEO alone instead of Siemens Teamcenter or SAP PLM for creating the BOM, Change Records?

The short answer is No. You cannot use one or the other. Below is the explanation

• SAP PEO is Product Engineering (PE) and Product Operations (PO) & deals with “Version controlled” master data (this is different data-model than classic SAP) like Version BOMs, Version Routings etc.
• SAP PLM is primarily focused on the Product Engineering master data  like Change management, Document, BOMs etc.

With the above two points being clear, if someone is using an external PLM system (Like Siemens Teamcenter), then the master data from this PLM, like Change, Structures (aka BOMs), Parts (material master), Documents, etc., needs to be fed to downstream SAP S/4 for processing like MRP & Manufacturing for enrichment and actual usage. You will, therefore, need some (if not all) capabilities of SAP PLM (Like Change record & BOM) to bring into SAP S/4, which in turn will feed this master data in the form of version control master data to SAP PEO for actual manufacturing related activities like Bill of process (aka Routings) & Production orders. thanks much for laying out the scenario. So my link to the documentation should be what you are looking for. Here, the transfer of the data from Teamcenter to SAP is going automatically through Change Notices and related workflows to SAP S/4HANA. No manual intervention needed at all. Change Record and Change Master are being triggered automatically as part of the processing. These need to be used obviously. There is no "shortcut" to PEO within S/4HANA, as you need to govern the updates through change control.
