3E WWI Template / Chapter 14

Dear all

because of some reasons we will now use 3E WWI templates in combination of 3E generation variants to handle the Safety Data Sheet.. I have some trouble with the template (i believe version 2310) and the generation variants to be set up according 3E docu.

This is the topic

1.) The generation variant is defined heavily using "discrete" validity areas (which have "strange" settings from my point of view but are defined based on 3E docu)

2.) the chapter 14 is using heavily "G groups" to collect data

This is now my question (simple example)

If we have a REAL_SUB which is dangerous according to the respective transport regulation we should print the "NUM UN" from "LS_UN_SUB"

Now we have: the G Group (refer above) and the generation variant (refer above) which are used heavily in chapter 14.

As you know: a identifier can have a "usage" or not. If there is no Usage: because of "compatibility" this would be as well selected in WWI.

BUt now i have a "trouble" with the "G Group" and the generation variant (and how it should be defined per 3E docu),

If the "NUM, UN" is now having "PUBLIC REG_WORLD" only "IMDG" and "IATA" data show up; if i remove the usage for EU SDS we get RID, AND etc. plus IMDG data; the reasons is the WWI template + generation variant.

I would like now to get feedback from you: how do you maintain identifiers in your system? With or without usages?

I will play around more (and add some "usages") in top on identifier level

But the chapter 14 is really defined "strange" in WWI code level (i will may be ask a further question)

I need now to learn more on the 3E templates + Generation variant.

Wish you the best

Hi CB, this is also the case here. We are loading 3E OCC data with default usage PUBLIC/REG_WORLD. However we hit into similar issue with 3E section 14 templates. We had to remove some G group wwi logic there to make it work. We asked 3E years ago if it's really a need to use G group in the template, but did not get a good feedback at that time. But indeed we were told by 3E it's best not to specify usage for identifier data load by 3E. We are still loading the identifers with usage but may re-visit this topic in the future to make it more standard for the preparation of product compliance module.

Hello Christoph,

Identifiers usually don't have a usage. In some cases, though, e.g. in dangerous goods questions, they may have a regulatory ist assigned since the names for the different DG regulations may differ. So Chapter 14 usually checks which regulation is currently active and then selects the right identifier based n the regulatory list assigned.

Best regards,

Ralph

In a nutshell: you are saying that SAP + 3E together use as "Best Practise" not to use the "Usage" on identifier level, BUT we are using this option heavily since the "usage" on identifier level was invented. So the move to 3E solution is not easy for us. Thanks for feedback.
