The vision for offering a Smart Store solution is being realized!
October 7th, 2019. |
The new Fiori app called “
Move Products with RFID” was released with
S/4HANA 1909 (Retail & Fashion). The app helps to move products from the backroom to the sales floor in an automated way, eliminates manual effort to post goods movement, and increases the product availability on the sales floor.
“
Move Products with RFID” helps make product options such as size & color combinations always available on the sales floor in the desired quantity by moving products from the backroom to the sales floor in an efficient fashion. Consumers can find the right product option when they come in. The app increases the productivity of store associates by automating the process for moving products from the backroom to the sales floor, or vice versa. For example, a store associate who needs to replenish the sales floor walks to the backroom, grabs the needed products and put them on a cart, walks toward the sales floor, on the way leaving the backroom views the quantity on a smart display with a RFID reader, selects the button for “To Sales Floor” and continues. The system posts a goods movement for the products automatically to ensure an accurate stock quantity at the sales floor and at the backroom.
You can achieve high product availability on the sales floor, distinguish the stock in the backroom and the stock on the sales floor accurately, eliminate the manual effort to post goods movement, and optimize space usage using the new app!
Additional innovations are coming soon: As a next step, we have developed another new Fiori app called "
Move Products Worklist" which would enhance the support of the business process above by providing a dynamic list of products that needs to be moved after sales transactions. We plan to release this app with the next release cycle. *
It is time for RFID in Retail:
According to GS1 Organization (
link), “the average level of the stock accuracy in retail stores across different segments is about 65%-75%, every 3% improvement in stock accuracy results in a 1% uplift in sales, and a sales improvement in the range of 1.5% to 5.5% can be achieved using modern technologies such as RFID”. Also, the hardware cost has become reasonable (I bought passive RFID tags for 2 cents each), many of our customers have started using RFID or have pilot projects, and the RFID technology complements our solution in a low TCO manner.
Low TCO approach:
The SAP’s RFID strategy is a low TCO approach because it has a lean architectural design and leverages the existing Fiori apps for In-store Merchandising which are widely adopted by retail and Fashion companies globally. With the SAP Fiori and RFID apps for retail store management, retail and Fashion companies can test and implement modern technologies to operate more efficiently, set themselves apart from the competition, and improve the shopping experience.
