SAP Companion: Link Tiles not language sensitive?

Hi Community,

I always thought that Link Tiles in Companion respond to the UI-language of the application. In this case S/4HANA. But that doesn´t seem to work. What I have created is:

  • Link Tile A with a link to a Simulation A (in language EN)
  • Link Tile B with a link to a Simulation B (in language DE)

I would have expected that when a user logs on in S/4HANA in EN, he only sees Link Tile A, because the underlying SEN-object is in EN. And when a user logs on in DE, he only sees Link Tile B. However, that´s not the case. Regardless of the logon language, both Link Tiles are visible. I have looked if I can set a condition based on language, but that condition is not available.

How to deal with this?

Regards,
Carlo

Hi Carlo,

The objects in the Help Topics tab of SAP Companion, i.e. message bubbles and link tiles, are all stored in one content object in Manager for any given application screen.  So, if I log into S/4HANA or any other application running SAP Companion and then open a screen and start creating link tiles, all of those link tiles are added to one content object in Manager.

If the application screen language, at the time that you create the EN and DE link tiles, is English both link tiles will end up in the English object and so both will be shown when you open the application in English.  Language is considered but it is not the language of the individual link tiles that is considered but the language of the object that contains in the link tiles in Manager.

So, if you want to do what you mention you must:

1. Log into the application, e.g. S/4HANA, in English
2. Navigate to the relevant application screen and create the English link tile
3. Change the application language to DE
4. Create the DE version of the link tile

Now, the correct link tile will be visible based on the language of the application user interface that the user is using.

Shane

Hi Shane,

Thanks for the clarification. I tried to do what you proposed, but now I get an error message which I did not expect.

I log into S/4HANA, in English and created the EN link tile. Then I changed the application language to DE. However when trying to create the DE link tile, I get an error message that language DE is not foreseen. Apparently it redirects me back to EN. Did we miss something in configuration somewhere? Screenshot 2025-01-28 161421.png

Hope you have a suggestion where to solve this?
In the future we will have even more languages, so we need to tackle this in some way.

Best regards,
Carlo
