It is possible that Producer is not crashing but that there is a slow running process. The Watchdog window appears to inform the author that something is not responding so it might be an issue. You can increase the time before Watchdog reports a potential issue if it is not really an issue but a slow running process. What happens if you click Please wait?
If you do click Please wait several times and nothing occurs, I would start the investigation by confirming that the author that is having issues has the correct prerequisites to use Producer. You can do that using the Enable Now Cloud Requirements document. At a minimum, make sure that the following requirements are in place:
