Org chart - structure: Is it possible to make different structures in 1 system?

I know it's possible to have different views of a structure with permissions, but is it possible to make different structures in 1 system? If so, how could I do it?

Thank you in advance,

Hello, esterml,

Company Organization Chart supports the following:

  • It displays the direct and matrix manager reporting relationships of the users.
  • Users can navigate up in the hierarchy by clicking the Up One Level button. The button is above the topmost node being displayed.
  • Users can navigate down the hierarchy by clicking on the team size number. The team size is at the bottom of the organization chart node of any user who has direct or matrix reports.
  • If a manager has matrix reports and you’re viewing the organization chart for the manager, the matrix reports are connected to the matrix manager with dotted lines.
  • If an employee has a matrix manager and you’re viewing the organization chart for the employee, you can view the matrix manager after clicking the +1 matrix manager button.
  • Future new hires are shown as the direct reports of managers.
  • Users can choose to display direct reports only, matrix reports only, or both.
  • You can choose to display contingent workers in the Company Organization Chart.
  • Users can export the Company Organization Chart and save it as a PDF file or an image.
  • Users can print the Company Organization Chart.
  • The Company Organization Chart can display more than one language. For example, the Company Organization Chart can display names in Korean and titles in English.

It doesn`t support:

  • The Company Organization Chart doesn’t show HR relationships. Users can see their managers and matrix managers, but not their HR managers.
  • The Company Organization Chart doesn’t support customizing the order of peers of the same manager.

Kind regards,

Alina

Are we talking about the org chart tab called "Company Structure Overview"?
That indeed permits different views if you set them up via Manage Data --> Company Structure Definition. Permission wise I do not believe there to be options for hiding specific ones via RBP (in the end it's just like all the other MDF things, I mean you can't hide specific departments either without for instance making them country specific.

Yes, I'm talking about the org chart itself. Ok, we can have different views and with the permissions we can filter. Nevertheless, we can't create 2 different structures, right? (Not views, but different structures and 1 group with access to 1 of them and other group to another one).

As long as there are relations in place (parent child or simply fields that refer to other objects) you can do quite a bit. In my demo instance I for instance have one where you can only see departments and parent departments, but also one with position as the main entity and then drilling down to stuff like business unit, department etc. The permissions as said don't really support that you can only see 1 out of the options of the dropdown by my knowledge. You're free to try of course, but I haven't seen anything in RBP that allows differentiation for what it seems you try to do.

Maybe the below helps a bit in illustrating it. In the backend the org structure is untouched, it's just that based on the way to setup the Company Structure Definition, you can connect things differently as long as they have some sort of association/field to the other layer (can even be a custom mdf). I didn't mention it specifically, but you need the "Company Structure UI Configuration" object in manage data for creating effects like the below.
