How to Make Mass Imports in EC Easier?

One of the drawbacks of EC is how difficult it is to mass import employees. Mass imports require the sequential import of a number of different templates, all in the right order (at least, as we understand it).

We conduct mass imports of employee data with some frequency. We're looking for solutions that other customers have implemented that have made mass imports easier. Any insight would be appreciated.

We've used the import templates and noted it is much quicker than manual data entry. Even though the templates take a little time to prepare and must be handled separately for each different country, it is not that burdensome as we hired several hundreds in three different countries and it was very efficient.

Are we talking about full new hires (as it's correct that you need to import like 4-6 templates in a specific order dependent on the type of hire).

If so, there are parties like CData, Accenture and EPI-USE use that offer solutions that allow you to put stuff in Excel and have that placed back in SF so if you wish to give that a go you could give that a try.

You could also leverage integration center to cover quite some of the work for you as you could predefine the important templates based on data of exisiting users and make deviations where needed (also with IF THEN ELSE). It's a bit of effort at first, but when you have it, it's more of a maintenance (i.e. change IDs, Positions and Names) and running the 'integration' (which is just a sync in reality) thing.

For most things either of these could make your life a lot easier, but keep in mind that business rules and incorrect associations / inactive positions / inactive organisations inactive managers, can still make certain steps of the mass import process cumbersome.
