Hi there,
I have a question in regards to the Curriculum Basis Date in Global Application Settings. The client i am working for already have SF-LMS Module. In their existing BAU LMS module, which they"ve had for a number of years, they have configured the Curriculum Basis Date to 01/Jan/2010.
Since the Client is a global company with offices in many geographies, they are in the process of rolling out a brand new SF system (incl LMS) to their global workforce. As part of configuring the system and setting it up, I have a question in relationt to whether the Curriculum Basis Date (Global Application Settings) in the to-be SF-LMS instance should retain the original curriculum date from their current BAU LMS instance (i.e. 01/Jan/2010) or should it be a new date. I ask this question because we will be migrated Learning History records to the new SF-LMS system. Therefore my thinking is that any Curriculas that need to be migrated to the new LMS as well as the learning history records (relating to Learners learning history being migrated from AS-IS LMS) should be based on the same Curriculum date that is maintained in SF-BizX (01/Jan/2010), as opposed to configuring a new date. Please advise

Hi there. I can't answer to your migration part, but wanted to help by providing a little more detail. the basis date has a default when you create a new curriculum. That default is set to 1/1/2010 but we change that all the time, or remove it altogether each time we create a new curriculum. Let me explain.
That default basis date only matters if your initial basis is a CALENDAR based basis. That default date doesn't apply to an EVENT initial basis. So it's a required field only for a calendar basis (whether initial assignment or retraining assignment). In fact you can delete it on an event initial basis. But all our annual training courses we launch once a year at the same time and due at the same time, are each added to a curriculum with an initial number of 1, period of year, threshold ENTIRE PERIOD, initial basis calendar, required date basis is the assignment date (we schedule an assignment profile), and the basis date is set to the previous year + 1 day. In other words, if our content is required by 9/30/25, then your basis date is 10/1/24 (because the initial basis was one calendar year).
I tend to doubt that all the client's existing curricula in the client's LMS are all the same or that they never changed the basis date, but you would want the migration to pull all the curricula' prior configuration.
