Dear community,
with this blog post I want to highlight a newly available feature for SAP Enable Now Web Assistant in cooperation with SAP Cloud for Customer (Hybris/C4C).
The SAP Enable Now Web Assistant is an in-app, browser based performance support system that runs in a lot of SAP cloud solutions and presents contextualized help in various formats. See our main community page for more information, demo videos, and setup guides.
Web Assistant has been available in C4C for quite some time now. Until the 2011 C4C release, the usage has been limited to displaying the standard SAP help content in the Web Assistant.
This is a great feature but customers have been asking for the possibility to expand and extend this content with their own custom content like it is possible for other SAP solutions like S/4HANA and Success Factors.
Announcement: With the 2011 C4C release, customers can now add their own content to the existing standard SAP content to be displayed in the Web Assistant.
The Web Assistant, as noted, is generally available already in C4C. A few new settings were added to support the integration of a customer specific workarea to display custom content.
Follow these steps (and check the Web Assistant Integration guide for SAP Enable Now version 2011, you may need to sign in) to set this up.
1. In your C4C system open the settings:
2. Go to Company Settings > In-App Help and enter your SAP Enable Now Manager URL (including the workarea) and the parameters.
To enable extensibility, you need to create a custom workarea and also configure SAP Enable Now settings in your C4C application.
To configure settings in the C4C application, add URL of your extended workarea (including the workarea ID) in the dataUrlWPB2 parameter as well as in the URL field. Note that the custom settings will be added to the default settings for the standard workarea provided by SAP. Save your configuration and refresh your application to be able to create custom content. Note that other parameters for the Web Assistant work as usual when you put them into the Parameters section.
Saving the settings and logging out and logging back in should bring up the Web Assistant with your custom content. Remember that you will need to connect to the C4C standard content workarea with your Manager and create an extended workarea to display both the standard content and your own (more about that in our Infocenter). More information about this will be coming soon.
As with other target applications, it's best practice to use the editor=true parameter in the test environment only to avoid the Web Assistant trying to authenticate users as authors in production. It can be added to the URL as a URL parameter for the authors.
You can now use the extensibility scenario also for SAP Cloud for Customer. This blog article gave you an overview of how that can be set up. For more information please see the Web Assistant Integration guide for SAP Enable Now version 2011 (you may need to sign in before that is published).
This (2011) is the first release with this functionality, so please expect more features and improvements coming with the following releases.
