Using organizations in the LMS can give administrators a powerful tool to divide their company into learning groups. Learning organizations typically map well to actual organizations within your company structure and can be based on administrative learning groups. For example - you would typically group an organization based on employees that have the same or similar learning requirements. Many times this can be a 1:1 with a company's departments.

Owners of organizations can act very similarly as a manager for the employees that sit within the organization. Furthermore, administrators can perform actions on organizations as a whole quickly - for example, if you need to assign a new tax course to the accounting organization, you can quickly add the group in the learning needs management tool and assign the course.

There are some very nice feature that using organizations unlock. First of all, organizations have greater leverage over their learning homepage. Organizations can create and manage their own tiles that are directed to their users. These can contain links to specific courses, videos about their department, ect. Organizations can also add their own custom headers and footers on learning notifications from the system.

Another great feature is slotting. Slotting allows a course administrator to reserve seats within a scheduled offering for a specific organization. For example, an offering can have 15 total seats, but 5 of them are reserved for the Sales department. Once 10 seats in the offering are taken, the remaining five can only be taken by students in Sales.
