SAP BPC MS 10.1 package suddenly fails with HRESULT: 0xC020801C

Hello Experts,

Our SAP BPC 10.1 Packages have been running fine for a long time.

Suddenly some Windows patches caused them to start failing.

Since we dont know specifically what security patches and changes came with the updates we are struggling to troubleshoot the issue.

Can anyone suggest a way to troubleshoot the SISS packages? Is there a document on how to check for connections, providers, user rights, etc.

Our Excel EPM Reports and Input schedules are working, but we did have to install a newer OLEDB Provider to get past that problem which was also created by the updates. We believe a forced disablement of TLS 1.0 and 1.1 that came with the OS Patch, drove the providers/drivers to stop communicating, so that was also what lead us to install the newer OLEDB Driver. That change fixed the Excel Reports and Input schedules, but we still the Data Manager Package failing problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Additional info.

Previously when the package ran, it finished in about 20 seconds successfully, now it runs almost 2 minutes before Failing leading us to believe its a DB connect fail of some sort.

When we turn on the Package Error log, it doesnt give us anymore error info, just the details logic and parameters that are being run.

In the SQL Server log, although we get a connect error when we run the package, that same user accessing EPM Excel Reports and Input Schedules runs fine. So seems to be the handshake between Analysis Services and SQL Server.

We see the backend Package Logic script file get created and put in *tmp* with the Logic for Clear in there.

Not sure what to check to see why that logic wont execute on the server side.

Thanks.

Another update.

We have submitted a ticket through our Support Vendor to SAP, nothing back yet so we continue to try and troubleshoot in the interim.

Question, does anyone know if the SQL Server Authentication mode has to be Mixed? "Windows and SQL Server authentication?" We see that in the install guide but it also says only needed if running the BPC Console which we are not sure of.

Does anyone know of a checklist to go through to analyse for "All Data Manager Packages failing"? after windows security and update patches?

We are getting desperate here so any info would be appreciated!

Thanks. Mike.

Third Update - We now have a workaround that Data Packages do run when TLS 1.0 is re-enabled on the BPC server in the Client folder - Set Boolean = '1', while using the new OLEDB Driver for SQL that supports 1.2 for the regular BPC Excel Reports and Input Schedules. This gets us a short term workaround. See the Windows update note from mid august - "TLS 1.0 soon to be disabled"

However we need a TLS1.2 solution for the Data Packages and cannot find any reference to how to get Data Packages to support TLS 1.2.

Has anyone heard of this issue for Data Manager packages and is the a setting maybe in the Analysis Services Connection string that might help overcome this issue?

Thanks.

Mike
