Edit Product Short Text in Declaration

Hello,

Due to a unique scenario, the user edits the commercial description. This change is not reflected in the Product Short Text. Is this standard behavior? Can this Product Short Text be changed without development?

Thank you in advance.

Regards, Dean.

Hello Dave,

Thank you for your patience. I agree with your last comments, but I have discovered it depends on your messaging type. From what I have observed, if the messaging is iDoc (EDI), then in the parameters passed to the incompleteness function module will contain the changed description in IT_TXT.

However, if the messaging is in print form, this does not happen. Can you confirm this ibservation?

Hi Dean,

Yes, if you select a Product into a Declaration item, its short text is copied and proposed as the description. You can over-write that proposed description, but your replacement text does not update the Product master record - it would be quite a major development to do that.

Dave

Hello Dave,

Sorry for the delay. I guess I didn't explain myself. We have situations were the users either replace the product number and/or change the commercial description in the export declaration. I find that depending of the output (PRN, EDI), the PRTXT or IWTXT is or is not updated per the incompletion check function module. Meaning, the changed commercial description is not found in the parameters passed. But it is stored somewhere because it is displayed on the screen.

So, I am trying to figure out these observations.

Have you encountered this behavior?

Hi Dean,

I'm still not totally sure what you're asking, but I'll assume you'd like to know how or where to find the item descriptions.

The descriptions may be found by using Function Module READ_TEXT, calling with Object = 'SLL_CUHD', ID = 'IWTX', Language = 'EN' (or whatever you use), and Name = <GUID_CUIT>.

Hope that helps, and apologies in advance if I've still missed your question.

Regards,
Dave
