Dear All,

How can I copy a complete/one environment(BPC) from one server/box/instance to another one? Do we have a tool to do that? Or, do I need to copy objects one by one(models, DIMs, scripts, forms, etc...)?

Pls. help.

Thanks,

Peri

There are many tools within the Application Server to do this.

File Service User Interface (Tcode UJFS).

- This is the File System of your BPC environment.

- You can download the who directory heirarchy to a ZIP file.

- Go to the same Tcode and do an Import of this ZIP to your Target Shell.

BPC Backup and Restore Tool (Tcode UJBR).

- You can execute a full backup of you environment.

- You can expport just the shell or everything inside it (Master and Transaction Date).

- Like UJFS, the output is a ZIP file.  Do an import on the target.

SAP BW Transports (Tcode RSA1).

- Go to your BW Workbench and create a BW Transports.

- Transport Connection --> Object Types --> Environment.

- Pick your environment and create a transport.

- Go to the Target system (STMS) and import this (this will take some time).

Hi,

If you have to transfer the entire appset from one server to another, the best approach is to take a backup through UJBR and restore the same in the target server. Is the version of both the servers same?

Hi Nilanjan,

Sorry for the delayed response.

Yes, both servers are of the same version.

To run UJBR, do I need any special previlege?

Thanks,

Peri

You need access to SAP_BPC_SYSADMIN role.

Refer to the Security Guide.

Nilanjan,

Using UJBR, backed up the environment and when I tried to restore the same into the SAME server(for testing purpose) under DIFFERENT environment id, it failed. Attached image contains the error message. What could be the reason for this?

Would appreciate your help on this.

Thank you.

Hi Nilanjan or Ravi,

If both BPC servers are not same at patch level then how can we move complete environment shell with all its Models to another BPC server?

Thanks,

Neeraja.
