Cannot connect to the Reporting Server

Hi experts,

When I try to modify an application by adding new dimensions, I get the following error message upon processing:

Error message:: Cannot connect to the Reporting Server

In the event log, I can see the following record:

The configuration information of the performance library "C:\WINDOWS\system32\perf-ReportServer$BPC-rsctr.dll" for the "ReportServer$BPC" service does not match the trusted performance library information stored in the registry. The functions in this library will not be treated as trusted.

I assume that BPC cannot reach the Reporting Server because of security settings. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi Peter,

Some hints about SSRS for SAP BPC :

  • If you installed SSRS with no named instance, you should verify (as stated by Sorin) that http://SSRSServerName/Reports is working.

  • If you installed SSRS with a named instance (BPC for example) and on same server as SQL Server 2005 DB, you should verify that http://SSRSServerName/Reports$BPC is working.

  • If you installed SSRS not on same server as SQL Server DB, then SSRS is not configured and you will have to setup it manually (see bellow).

  • To check SSRS configuration, open start / All programs / Microsoft SQL Server 2005 / Configuration Tools / Reporting Services Configuration

  • In SSRS Configuration tools, verify that everything is ok for "Server Status" / "Report Server Virtual Directory" / "Report Manager Virtual Directory" / "Windows Service Identity" / "Web Service Identity" / 'Database setup" & "Initialization". For further info and manual configuration of SSRS you may browse Microsoft Technet website or request SAP IT consulting.

  • In SAP BPC Server Manager, open Options / Server Options. Reporting Server Virtual Directory must match the name of SSRS Report Server Virtual Directory. As you may see, SSRS uses 2 websites (Report Server and Report Manager), so make sure that BPC is configured to use Report Server.

Thank you both,

In the SQL 2008 Configuration Manager the virtual directory was ReportServer_BPC and in the BPC Server Manager it was ReportServer$BPC.

It is working now

Did you check if the reporting services is working?

Please try http://nameofappserver/reports and see if the page will be loaded without error.

If this page is not working then RS is not working and you have to check the configuration of RS.

If it is working then check into Server Manager if you have input the corect information for reporting services during the installation.

http://SERVER_URL/reports does not work.

However http://SERVER_URL/OSoft does work.

But I can log on to the Report Server from SQL Server Management Studio. Is it possible to fetch the configuration from there?

Because it all seems correct....
