Former Member

Hi,

I tested this transformation file on BPC 5.1, and it was able to load data with out error. When the client moved to 7.0. I received the following error:

Convert Data

Success

Record Count : 11212

Accept Count : 11212

Reject Count : 0

Skip Count : 0

Duplicate column name 'SIGNEDDATA'.

-

Here is a copy of the transformation file:

*OPTIONS

FORMAT = DELIMITED

HEADER = NO

DELIMITER = ,

SKIP = 0

SKIPIF =

VALIDATERECORDS=YES

CREDITPOSITIVE=YES

MAXREJECTCOUNT=-1

ROUNDAMOUNT=

*MAPPING

CATEGORY=*Col(2)

ProfitCenter=*Col(3)

ENTITY=*Col(4)

TIME=*Col(5)

SIGNEDDATA=*Col(6)

DATASRC=*NEWCOL(TESTFile)

Measures=*NewCOL(Periodic)

*CONVERSION

I tried taking out the SignedData line in the transformation file, and this is the error I received:

Convert Data

Success

Record Count : 11212

Accept Count : 11212

Reject Count : 0

Skip Count : 0

The number of failing rows exceeds the maximum specified. (Microsoft Data Transformation Services (DTS) Data Pump (8004202c): TransformCopy 'DTSTransformation__7' conversion error: General conversion failure on column pair 1 (source column 'SIGNEDDATA' (DBTYPE_STR), destination column 'SIGNEDDATA' (DBTYPE_NUMERIC)).)

Any help will be apprecated!

Thanks,

Mark

Sam,

I just figured out the problem. There is a bug in SAP 7.0 MS SP3. that gets corrected in sp4. There is a work around.

1) In the transformation file, Delete the line that has the measures=(Periodic)

or

2) In the transformation file add a line in the mapping Amount=Measures

I used the first one and it worked.

As far as I know,

This is not a bug, before V5, Amount, Signeddata, periodic, is same meaning in the data file,

Therefore, you should remove measures=(Periodic) as Mark said.

Again this is not a bug and designed behavior.

I just created a test file in ApShell and I still get the same error:

Duplicate column name:'SignedData'.

Mark,

Can you check your fact tables and make sure the schema and the fileds are not altred?

I mean make sure all three tables has the same fileds?

Mark,

Hi there. Can you please tell me the following:

1 What version of 7M are you on? SP3? SP4?

2. SQL 2005 or 2008?

3. Does the import.txt in apshell load when running the standard import package with the import.xls transformation file?

4. What package are you using when getting this error? Standard Import? Custom Task?

5. A good way to troubleshoot Data Manager problems is to reduce the file to just one line of data and the header. What happens when you do that with your problem file?

6. What happens when you change the header item of 'signed data' to 'amount'?

James, answers to your questions below:

1) SP4

2) SQL 2008

3) Do you mean I am able to run the standard package?

4) Standard Import Package

5,6) I change the signeddata to Amount and loaded just one line, it still gives me the same error -

CLEARDATA= No

RUNLOGIC= Yes

CHECKLCK= Yes

Mark,

Looks like your source data for measure(Signedata) field is in vracht type indted of numeric and it dose not have way to convert.

Please make sure that you do not have any non numeric data into the source signeddata.

also make sure the datatype is numeric.

This should fix your problem.

Hope this helps.

Hi Sam,

Can you provide a little more detail what you mean by "Looks like your source data for measure(Signedata) field is in vracht type indted of numeric and it dose not have way to convert"? There is only numerical data in my signed data column.

Here is a sample of the data I am trying to load. I am not sure if that will help.

Account Catagory ProfitCenter Entity Time signed Data

100000 ACTUAL 100008 1000 2009.DEC 1231

Mark for your error message

General conversion failure on column pair 1 (source column 'SIGNEDDATA' (DBTYPE_STR), destination column 'SIGNEDDATA' (DBTYPE_NUMERIC)).)

*source column 'SIGNEDDATA' (DBTYPE_STR), * - means

Some where in your source you have

  1. 1 Space with your numbrs

  2. 2 Wrong decimals or comas

  3. 3 it's not numric.

  4. 4 It is also possiable that the fieeld are not aligned properly and that is why you are geting the error

Sometimes with tab deliminated or Space deleimited files i have seen this problem

When DTS rund it need Numeric data for Signed data field.

Hope this helps.

Sam, thanks for the quick reply, but its is still not running and I keep getting the message "Duplicate column name 'SIGNEDDATA'." I do not have any space, no decimals, the field is numeric and aligned. Could it be a version 7.0 issue? We just switched over from v 5.1 to v 7, could it be that import package is not running well due to some setup issue? Please advice. Thanks

I do not think this is V5 vs v7 problem,

I am gussing that this is the first time you are loading this file in V7. is that correct?

if yes, Have you processed and modified your applictaaion, Can you send data into application without any problems?

Can you just take 10 records of the file you have and see if that works, This will show that you have a data problem or a confegeration problem.

in your transfermation file you have DELIMITER = ,

is your file split by "," or tab?
