This document will describe step by step creation of Flat File Upload Planning Function via BPC Embedded Technology. With the help of this Document User can Plan (Mass Upload via Flat File) for any Planning Model. The document has been created with the help of BW4HANA & BPC 11 Embedded Technology.


Steps to be Done:

  1. Create Info Area.

  2. Create Info Object & Key Fig.

  3. Create Planning ADSO.

  4. Create Aggregation Level.

  5. Create Planning Filter.

  6. Create Planning Function.

  7. Create Planning Sequence.

  8. Create Flat File.

  9. Test Planning Sequence.


1.  Create Info Area

Right Click on BW Repository. Go to New -> Info Area.

New Info Area Dialogue Box will appear. You need to provide Name and Description. If you want to see the Info Area to be displayed in user Favorite menu then we need to check the Add to Favorites check box.


 2. Create Info Object & Key Fig

Right Click on Info Area (YTEST_DEMO). Go to New and Select Info Object

One New Info Object Dialogue box will appear. User need to provide Name and Description and press Finish.

Use need to select the Master Data and Texts from Properties to contain Master Data and Text. Then Activate the Info Object pressing .

Create a Key Fig selecting the Data Type in primary screen. First go to creation of Info Object.

Select Info Object Type Key Fig and Data Type Currency.

Go to Currency Info Object Type and Browse to select 0CURRENCY.

Activate the Key Fig. after selecting the currency.

3. Create Planning ADSO

Right Click on Info Area. Go to New and select DataStore Object (Advanced)

Give the Name and Description and Press Finish.

To enable planning the specific settings.

Alternatively, User can apply Model Template.

Add the info Object and Key Fig within ADSO. Activate the aDSO.

4. Create Aggregation Level

Right Click Info Area -> New -> Aggregation Level.

Give name and Description and the Info Provider Name. For this example the Planning Cube would be info provider.

Go to Output Tab and select Add Characteristic and Add Key Fig. User has to Right click on Provider then we will find the Add Characteristic or Add Key Fig option.


Activate the Aggregation level.

5.Create Planning Filter

Go to GUI screen and Open RSPLAN t-code. Give a suitable technical name and press Create Button.

In our example, we are going to plan only for USD, so in planning filter we are restricting only for USD value. Once you happy with restriction (Filter Value), save the Planning Filter.

6. Create Planning Function

Go to RSPLAN and go to Planning Function Tab. Give a suitable Technical Name and Description. Press create button.

Select the Aggregation level YAGGR_01 and Planning Function Type as File Upload from AO. Once you Finish, go to parameter tab.

Select the Parameters as it is mandatory settings. The parameters are self-explanatory. We have used 0CURRENCY as USD in planning filter so here we have to use the ‘Is Used’ checkbox for currency.

Press Save once you completed.

7. Create Planning Sequence

Go to RSPLAN and go to Planning Sequence Tab. Press Create button.

Select Type as 2 for automatic planning, aggregation level as YAGGR_01, filter as YAGGR01_FIL01 and Planning Sequence YAGGR01_PF1. Save the planning sequence.

8. Create Flat File

Open an excel file and create the format as YCOMPCODE, YAMOUNT and 0CURRENCY.

Maintain the Master Data for YCOMPCODE as 1000 AND 2000.

Save the file via Save as option and file type would be .csv.

9.Test the Planning Function

Change the aDSO mode to planning.

Change the aDSO mode to planning. Click the load mode.

Check before execute the planning mode as planning mode.

Go to RSPLAN and go to planning sequence tab. Open the planning Sequence we just created.

System will ask you for select the dialog box for csv file as source (Which will be uploaded)

Select the file name and press Open. Press Allow to process further.

Now you can see two records have been generated. To save the data in aDSO , press Save Plan Buffer.

You will get a success message for record generation.

Check the same data in aDSO.
