XL Reports are slow

I have a user that says his financial reports are procsessing slow for month end . We are at XL 6.80.01.05 B1 2005 A 6.80.318 PL: 18. I have worked with my DBA and reindexed SQL with little or no improvment. The user says that he has gone from a few minutes to run various month end reports to servral. Many of the reports are custom. With sevral tables in them. Reports are run seperatly not batched. One of our customer performace reports takes as long as an hour.

Any advice would be helpful.

Thank you,

Dennis

Hi Dennis,

Unfortunately, XL Reporter can be very slow when attempting to run complex reports or reports that are based on a large amount of data. One hour does sound excessive, particularly if it was taking a lot less time previously.

Has any software or hardware been changed in this period (eg upgrade to XL Reporter, new workstation etc)?

One thing to check is the amount of memory available on both the client and the server. XL Reporter will take up a lot of memory resource on both machines while generating a report and will run very slow if there is insufficient physical memory on either machine.

Kind Regards,

Owen

XL was upgrade a while back, the server is an enterprise class, I watched the usage as the user ran the reports. The CPU only spiked at the begining and end of the reports. I think I might approach the users PC then look at the DI API in a test area. Comments and suggestions are welcomed by all.

Thank you,

You can also run XLR Logs and run the SQL Log in QA and see what performance you are gettings. You can also speed up reports using Account Levels. Note the less Expanding Groups you have the faster your reports will be.

Try adding more space on IXmetasbooem Database and TEMDB same case with us it will add up atleast 40% of the speed otherwise use crystal reporter for complex report.

What is IXmetasbooem Database and TEMDB? and would the Crystal Reports be an install to the local work station or an add-on to B1. I'm very new to B1 please forgive my lack of knowledge.

Thank you, my DBA has added additional space to the database, it has allowed the reports to run somewhat faster.

Hi,

The SBO add-on like XL reporter could be slow when running it. It caused by RAM or even by processor or database file size. As about RAM, you must prepare min. 256 MB. I have ever read in certain document of SBO telling about that. Check it in the SAP portal or service marketplace.

Please check the portal and try to apply the last patch for XL reporter, also check the queries been used to extract the information and see if you can optimized it.

XL Reporter is based on the DI API and this API can be very slow and memory hungry from time to time.
