This question raised because I found that when I run CO24 - Missing parts report, some materials show that it is in shortage. However. I found that there are enough stocks and pruchase order to cover the "shortage" amount.
After hours of research, I found that in the production order->components overview, there is a column called committed quantity to affect the CO24 report. And I found that the committed quantity values updated automatically after I release the production order.
I want to ask why? And is it necessary for me to release all production order before I use the report CO24?
Thanks for your help
No it is not required to release the Production order to update the committed qty. You should run mass ATP for all orders in COMAC. In COMAC you will get the committed column.Based on the Scope of check you have kept in 02-P1 i.e when order is created your committed qty will come. If you have not checked consider Purc Ord in ATP it will not consider in calculating committed dates.
Check this & come back.
Your must release the production order before you can process it. Once the status is set to release you can print the shop floor paper and issue material from stock.
Before releasing we have to check capacity and material availability(which can be done automatically or manualy), if it is green then we can release asuring that while the order is in process no such shortage would occur.
Hence once order is released commited qty gets updated.
