Where is data saved when I saved a planning book?

Former Member

Hello everybdy,

I am new to SCM. I have got a planning area and a planning book.

I put values into the planning book and saved it. Where are now the values I put in when I klick the "Save"-Button?

Is that data stored in any table? What is the data flow?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Holger,

The planning data is stored in livecache memory.

You can use this function /SAPAPO/TS_DM_EXTRACT_DATA to extract the data from livecache.

CALL FUNCTION '/SAPAPO/TS_DM_EXTRACT_DATA'
  EXPORTING
    I_REQUNR   = P_REQUNR
    I_ISOURCE  = P_SOURCE
    I_MAXSIZE  = P_SIZE
    I_UPDMODE  = P_MODE
  TABLES
    I_T_SELECT = I_SELECT_PASS
    I_T_FIELDS = I_FIELDS_PASS
  EXCEPTIONS
    NO_MORE_DATA                 = 1
    ERROR_PASSED_TO_MESS_HANDLER = 2.

Hope this will help.

Hi Holger,

Planning Book and Data Views are just a medium using which you can view/change the data in a planning Area.

Wot ever changes you do in Planning Book/Data view will be reflected in Planning Area.

Planning Area Data is stored in Live Cache.

To view the data you can create a data source of this Planning Area and pull the data into BW.

Hi Holger,

In addition to information given above, you can go to the ff. link to find more information:

SCM 4.0 -> http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm40/helpdata/en/12/3dfd81126e1c448c870f335f11d016/frameset.htm

SCM 4.1 ->

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm41/helpdata/en/12/3dfd81126e1c448c870f335f11d016/frameset.htm

SCM 5.0 ->

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm50/helpdata/en/12/3dfd81126e1c448c870f335f11d016/frameset.htm

You can go to the Advanced Planner and Optimizer documentation from the above links.

In addition to function module given above, you can use function module BAPI_PBSRVAPS_GETDETAIL and BAPI_PBSRVAPS_CHANGEKEYFIGVAL to read and write data to the Planning Area/Planning Book.

Also, if your planning area already has a DataSource then, you can also use transaction RSA3 to view the Planning Area information (for checking/debugging purposes).

Hope this helps.

The data is stored in LiveCache and it can be extracted into an info-cube for reporting purposes. You will need some help from a BW consultant for this.

Hope this helps!
