hi,

If you`re trying to communicate between SAP Systems, you can use ALE Communication. Incase you would like to interact with your partners with heterogeneous systems then EDI serves the purpose, as it makes the necessary translation.

Reward points if helpful.

Hi,

For Example:

When a company(SAP) got 2 plants (Plant1 & Plant2), You can transfer material master data within these plants using ALE.

The same company do have relationship with vendor customer & bank, however Vendor customer and bank need not have sap, in this case you will be using a midleware as EDI Subsystem.

ALE->Data transfer between different systems within an organization. For eg Transferring Material Master from Centralized system to One of your Plant.

EDI->Data transfer with other companines. For eg Company A transfers data to Company B.For eg Purchase Order...

Hi,

ALE is used if both the systems are on SAP.

EDI is used when one of the system is non-sap.

Cheers
