WCM Control Key

Hi All, 

Greetings !

I want to run a cycle of permit to work ( WCM ) on S4 Hana system . I am assigning WCM control key in work order operation but WAP is not getting activated . All WCM related business function is activated . Can anyone please shed some light what configuration is missing ? Is there any other method available to activate WCM ?

by assigning WCM control key to an operation nothing actually gets created. You just get an option to assign WCA or WA to your maintenance order.

For this to work you need some basic customizing:

• SPRO -> Plant Maintenance and Customer Service -> Work Clearance Management -> Master Data -> Maintain Application Profile
• SPRO -> Plant Maintenance and Customer Service -> Work Clearance Management -> Master Data -> Architecture -> Assistant for Model Selection

Hi Matjaz , Thanks for your reply . Basically I need to implement Permit to Work features . For this , what I need to do ? Is WCM feature applicable on S4 Hana cloud environment ?

yes you need to do all the basic customizing. Regarding cloud, I unfortunately do not know but doesn't look good.

Hi Matjaz , one more clarification is that I do not need to activate WCM feature for each & every work order .I want to use WCM wherever is required . How can I do this ? Best Regards ,Mohammed

regarding this you have two options:

• define a default WCM control key to main work center on the technical object this default control key then triggers WCM process
• define an approval which triggers WCM process, assign this permit to the technical object and inherit it to the plant maintenance order. Make sure on the technial object that you can inherit this approval to maintenance order

The first option just automates defining the WCM control key on the maintenance order. For the second option you need to check the following configuration:

• SPRO -> Plant Maintenance and Customer Service -> Work Clearance Management -> Approvals -> Standard -> Maintain Approvals
• SPRO -> Plant Maintenance and Customer Service -> Work Clearance Management -> Approvals -> Enhancements -> Assign Approval
• SPRO -> Plant Maintenance and Customer Service -> Work Clearance Management -> Approvals -> Activate Work Clearance Management for Maintenance Orders

Hi Matjaz, My question is about configuring WCM control key . What parameters need to be set for WCM control key ? Supposing if I assign another control keyPMIN/PMEX , system will not trigger WCM feature, why ?

when defining control key there is nothing about WCM functionality so I assume that it is hardcoded somewhere. If you need a definite answer you should get a developer to debug the code.
