Dear All,

For a certain material type client wants to create PO with account assignment K. Initially it was non valuated material. So we select the quantity and value update for that material type.

material type was defined as non-valuated initially and was then turned into valuated while we already had stock

Now reservation created for that material with mvt type 201.When the user tried to do PGI (MB1A) w.r.t reservation for that same material it is showing error msg as "Valuated stock becomes negative Message No:M7314".

Note:

Quantity is available in material master also shows in MMBE.

Please tell me how to rectify this error. Is this error due to change of material from non valuated to valuate stock?

Hello @janusap

You said "material type was defined as non-valuated initially and was then turned into valuated while we already had stock".

If I understand that correctly, material type value management has been activated, when stock existed, i.e. stock was not zero. You should not have done that. The stock should have been zeroed before value management activation.

Now, you have a stock quantity, but not value and the material is value managed. Therefore when 201 movement is posted, the system tries to reduce both stock quantity and value. The stock value being zero, is getting negative during the posting, hence the error.

I think you have two ways to rectify the situation:

  1. Do it by the book - deactivate value management; reduce stock to zero; activate value management; bring the stock back (that will bring back both stock quantity and value)
  2. Shortcut - add the missing stock value with MR22

Make sure to consult your FI guys to define an offsetting account for stock value posting.
