Dear Sir/Madam,

Today the file size /usr/sap/KP1 has risen to abnormally to 98% of its capacity. Which remains at 45 - 55 %.

The DVEBMGS00 filled up abnormally. The " Work" directory under DVEBMGS00 filled up rapidly today morning at 8:55 AM.

I have allocate space to this file system.

Please advice why it was happened and what are the files ? Whether they can be deleted ? As sometimes core files generated and we delete them without any harm to the system.

I am giving the details of the listing of KP1 ( Our Production System)

  1. cd /usr/sap/KP1

  2. pwd

/usr/sap/KP1

  1. ls -lrt

total 29904

drwxr-xr-x 6 kp1adm sapsys 256 Aug 26 2006 DVEBMGS00

drwxr-xr-x 5 kp1adm sapsys 256 Aug 27 2006 SYS

-rwxrwxrwx 1 209 sapsys 15308209 Aug 27 2006 libclntsh.a

  1. cd DVEBMGS00

  2. ls -lrt

total 1840

drwx------ 2 kp1adm sapsys 256 Jan 23 2009 sec

drwxr-xr-x 2 kp1adm sapsys 4096 Mar 30 13:02 log

drwxrwxr-x 2 kp1adm sapsys 921600 Mar 31 08:55 work

drwxr-xr-x 3 kp1adm sapsys 4096 Mar 31 09:13 data

Any Pointer will be highly appreciated.

Regards,

Pranab

Check any core dump generated with large size under work directory and check all work processes logs, job logs.

some times due to long running background jobs heavy log files created as job logs, just replace or remove them.

for quick resolution, just delete core file under work directory, restart SAP application and delete *.old files from work directory
