Using IDocs for Time Data transfer between SAP and Kronos

Former Member

Has anyone had luck with using IDocs with Kronos...

What we are trying to achieve is sending the Mini-Master, Time Event Groupings, and Trigger to Kronos and then receiving the Time Events data back into SAP...

For some reason Kronos is saying that they do not knot what IDocs is and they have never worked with it...(surprisingly they are SAP certified)

Has anyone worked with Kronos in exchanging Time Events data? How did it go for you... Any tips you can offer us...

Thank you in advance.

it can be done through a BAPI or a XI system or third party software as explained here

http://www.iomotion.com/stc_sap.htm

and use PT80 or pt44 to upload as well.

read the note 647145

Please see our offical reports for uploading and posting time:

SAPCDT44 - Batch Report for Uploading Time Events from Subsystem

SAPCDT45 - Post Person Time Events from CC1.

, please read the documentation in SE38 for RPTEUP10. This

documentation states that this report is not the SAP official,

certified interface to time recording systems. We are encouraging

customers to use transaction PT44 (CC1) or PT45 (KK1) to ensure data

consistency for uploads.

RPTEUP10 is only an example how the upload of time events from

a sequential file could work. If you don't use the 'official'

interface CC1 or HR-PDC you might use a report like RPTEUP10, but

usually you should use a copy which you has to be changed due to your

situation.

All recorded, processed, unprocessed and deleted time events that have

ever been entered or uploaded into the HR system are stored in table

Hi Siddhart,

Thanks for the input about ST Connector... I was not aware about it... That was very helpful...

We are planning to use PT80 to send and retreive data between Kronos and SAP... I am still taking that stand for using IDocs and not Flat files.

But it looks like for some reason, we are stuck with the Kronos team that does not have any knowledge on IDocs and PDC... There is nothing we can do besides request for other team that knows IDocs...

Thanks again...

Of course you can use Idocs as well, there are multiple methods of bringing data into SAP System

you can get more info probably on service.sap.com, its best to explore all options and go withe the correct one

All the best,

Hi Siddhart,

Did you ever work with Kronos where Kronos accepted IDocs from SAP... We are only using HR-PDC.

Did Kronos convert the IDOCS to a flat-file and back from flat-file to IDocs or was it only a flat-file that was exchanged...

@All: Has this been a case with anyone else...

Kronos claims that they have a certified SAP interface and they can connect using PDC -Idocs... but for some reason the team that we are working with has no idea on that...

Its so sad on Kronos part...

Hi Harshal do you need documentation for idoc configuration? Actually most of the configurations of connector programs are the same.

You have to create a model in SM59. And you have to inform the Kronos team about the parameters that you have configured. I can only help you in creating idoc model and idoc creations.

But I do not have any information on Cronos side. I can help you just on SAP side.

Hi Okan,

I'd really appreciate if you could share the document... My technical person is aware about setting these up but I'd like to double check and make sure that we do not miss anything... Plus I'd like to learn something new too...

At this time... any help will be appreciated since we are running out of time with Kronos...

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

We have SAP interface with Kronos.

Output files are transferred using FTP via Citrix.

Hi Harshal

If you using SAP PI as staging area, ask Kronos to send an xml format file and in SAP PI you can trigger IDOCs to R/3.

Thanks

1. sap to kronos time transfer in both directions is std ale functionality.

2. kronos cannot say they dont kow anyting about idocs.. they are obliged to atleast provide you with the data structure of the fields that krono accepts from sap and sends back to sap.

3. with that info you should be able to creat your ale-filter which determines the fields transferred via idocs...

cheers

Yes, I am aware about the IDocs and creation... we have also spoken to Kronos about what information (fields) they want and what we can provide...

The bottleneck is that that KRONOS folks (atleast the PM and the technical expert that is assigned to us) are saying that they havent heard of IDocs.

My question is has anyone worked with KRONOS team where they accepted data using IDocs... I spoke to a few friends but all have exchanged data in flat files and not using IDocs...

Its very sad on Kronos part...
