Use of Discontinued parts in MRP4. My question is related to:
Concept of Discontinuation Data - Material Master ... - SAP Community
and
Discontinued Parts | SAP Help Portal
Can I use this feature stating:
- 1 at Discontinuation
- Effective date in the future (e.g. 2 years ahead), if implementation date is unknown.
- Update follow ip material.
If doing this, without updating any BOM at this stage (later doing the BOM update with local DCN) can it then be used as a flag that item will be superseded, and by which Material – to be used for informational needs only?
Clarification:
1.
If I have no idea when the actual new item will be implemented, would it then instead be possible to use this functionality as a signal only/information only about coming supersession? Means information that Part A is to be discontinued and will be replaced by Part B (as information only).
By that handle the BOM update manually, the very same day when the actual implementation is, do the update of super BOM and phantom BOM with local DCN instead?
Would this be possible, and would this affect anything negative?
2. Would any sales history be transferred from the old part no to the new material?
Hope you understand what I mean, thankful for any reply that might help me.
/Erik
