Hi SDN,
I'm searching for some documentation to know if it's possible to upgrade only the Basis NW component of an SAP ERP 6.0 installation without upgrading ERP Components to any EhPx. I didn't found any documentation telling me that it's possible or it's not possible.
The final system should be something like SAP BASIS 7.02 with SAP APPL 600, taking into account the SP equivalence.
The goal is to migrate the ERP 6.0 system to SYBASE.
Do you know about any documentation with this kind of information?
Thanks in advance,
Pedro
Hi Pedro,
Is it only the SAP kernel that you really want to update?
SAP now recommends the 720 kernel which is backwards compatible with your release.
Please also see below notes for relevant information.

Hi Paul,
no, the requisits for SYBASE are according to note
Note 1591424 - SYB: Heterogeneous system copy with target Sybase ASE
The target system on Sybase ASE will always be a Unicode system.
ABAP SAP_BASIS 702 SP9, minimum
but as we're in BASIS 700, we have to upgrade to 702, my question is for documentation supporting that we can maintain SAP_APPL 600 and upgrade only the BASIS component.
we've already Kernel 720.
Thanks,
Pedro
It is not possible to Upgrade only the Netweaver stack of a ERP system. You have to upgrade your
ERP system. EHP6 for ERP 6.0 is based on the EHP3 for SAP Netweaver 7.0 (SAP_BASIS 731). So once you upgrade your ERP system to EHP6, your netweaver will also be upgraded to 731.
Hope it clarifies your doubt.
Regards, Premsukh
Hi Pedro,
that is not possible, as Premsukh said. When you goto the SolutionManager's maintenance optimizer to generate the stack XML file, it won't let you upgrade only the NW components of an ERP system.
Not to mention the Application components' compatibility. It's mandatory to upgrade the full system.
