Upgrade from 4.6B

Hi,

We are planning to upgrade from 4.6B (kernel 46D 32 bit) to ECC 6 (64bit) Solaris 9 64 bit, oracle 10g 64 bit...

is this possible or do we have to first upgrade the kernel to 64 bits?

Thanks

Seelan

I would install the 4.6D 64bit kernel (it´s available), then upgrade your database to 10g, upgrade kernel to 46D_EXT and then start the upgrade.

Just an elaboration:

Do the Data migration to 64 bit machine.

Then start the normal upgrade activities

If your cpu is a SPARCV9 then you don't need a new machine but you can install the 64bit kernel on that running box.

Check with

/usr/sbin/psrinfo -v
