Hello,
I am Chetan Puraswani and a beginner in SAP PP.
After MRP run, a puchase requistion gets generated for Raw Material (procurement type F). But after a particular period of time the Pur. Rq. gets converted into a planned order.
Could any one please tell how does the system calculate the time after which a Pur. Rq. gets converted into a planned order?n
Whatit is the time upto which the Pur. Rq. remain unconverted into a planned order?
Hi Chetan
To understand how the system behaves, you need to consider a few elements in SAP - Is MRP Area being used? Is Special Procurement indicator (MRP 2 View) is utilised, the MRP Type Indicator and the procurement type indicator.
The aim of MRP is to match the supply with the demand. So whenever there is a demand - Stock level below safety stock for example or a planning file entry being created automatically or by the system - to match up the demand the system may propose a PR depeding the paramters in the material master and configuration.
The PR creation and the PR to PO conversion happens during MRP run (MD03). Check in your system if there is any background jobs that has convered the PR to Planned Order. Clcik on the details icon in MD04 and that will help you to understand how it was created.
Best Regards

-
PR is a document generated by an internal organization to notify the purchasing department of items it needs to order, their quantity, and the time frame. It may also contain the authorization to proceed with the purchase.
Please check in MD04 , Goto Raw Material level.
when not enough raw material , system will propose PR.

-
PR or planned order is just system proposal , the final decision from still from business.
