Follwing BPE 4HI, There is no mention of EBOM. Its all based on general Task list and adding material the task list. I find this to be just fine. So do you really need Equipement BOMS or will the task list with components be just as sufficient.

Hi, 4HI is Proactive Maintenance, so yes you are correct if you want to, you could just create a General Task List, then add that to the Maintenance Order and that will add all the materials to it in the components tab.

Re. Equipment BOMs and Task Lists, they are different objects with different business use cases.

General Task Lists are typically made with reference to a particular maintenance activity, inspection, repair job (Operations, Documents, Materials etc). And then can be used across many Maintenance Orders if required.

Equipment BOMs can be used to build out the structure of your equipment a bit more and link the spare parts (materials) that are specific to that piece of equipment. This is not shared across other equipment when its setup, its just so that a Maintenance Planner can see the spare parts when they are scoping out a Maintenance Order.
