Hello Experts,
Can we synchronize between Asset and Equipment like; number of Asset will be equal to number of Equipment? If so, then how we can maintain the sub-equipment of that particular equipment? Will all the sub-equipment of an equipment assign to that particular asset automatically OR they create individual asset number??
What is the best way to synchronize them? Creating sub-asset for sub-equipment OR any other ways??

Ashikul Milton
Hi Ashikul,
I hope my earlier information which I shared on this thread was useful, in addition to that i suggest you create sub-asset for sub-equipment.
You will get good information if you go through the links what I shared.

Hi Ashikul,
Yes. We can synchronize Equipment & Assets based on asset class. Configuration settings are available in path mentioned below.
Financial Accounting (New) - Asset Accounting - Master Data - Automatic Creation of Equipment Master Records - Specify Conditions for Synchronization of Master Data
You can map the fields of Asset & Equipment in following config path.
Financial Accounting (New) - Asset Accounting - Master Data - Automatic Creation of Equipment Master Records - Assign Master Data Fields of Assets and Equipment.

Hi Ashikul,
As Amol said, the configuration is based on the combination of Asset Class and Equipment Category / Object Type.
If your Sub-Equipments matches this requirement, Asset will be created.
In case if you have a specific requirement, you do not want to create Asset for Sub-Equipment, then you need do an enhancement to make sure system checks the status ASEQ of the Equipment before creating the Asset.

Hello,
Firstly, we are trying to generate same number for both the asset and equipment, so that it can be traced easily. Is it possible?
Secondly, if we do not create asset number for the sub-equipment, then after any maintenance for the sub-equipment how could we match asset with equipment (as sub-equipment in that equipment has been repaired). So, what would be the best way to synchronize them? Just creating asset against sub-equipment, creating sub-asset for sub-equipment OR any other ways??

HI Ashikul,
1) Check number ranges for asset & Equipment.
2) As I mentioned in my very first comment. Equipment creation will create asset based on your configuration settings. Now, If your sub-equipment categories are not falling under your customization settings, then sub-equipment ( Which is nothing but an equipment only) will not generate an asset number. If you want to have one to one mapping then, maintain your config settings for all relevant equipment category & object types.

Amol
Hi Ashikul,
1. In Standard way, i feel the same number range is difficult, so you need to have certain enhancement to do it. Discuss with your abaper.
2. You need to decide how the Asset Master needs to be maintained, if you need create for Sub-Equipment, else leave it. This depends on how your client needs.
Your Equipment / Sub-Equipment hold the same cost centre, then the cost will go to one place.
I tell you again, you need to obtain a requirement from your client, how they maintain the Asset Master, based on that decide a solution to relate the Industry standard to SAP Standard.
Regards
Terence
