Hi All,
I am updating SAP erp 6 from ehp 4 to ehp 6 using SUM 1.0 SP10. I am getting below error in phase shadow_import_inc. Although a lot of people are getting error in this phase, however i could not find anyone having the same error as the one im getting. Also i am not able to find any relevant notes.
I tried using the latest TP and R3trans but the error remains. Can anyone please help? let me know if you need more details. Thanks!
The system that im running is Windows server 2008 and MSSQL 2008.

Hi All,
Finally SAP have replied.
First, It is true that I am using R3trans from April 2014 onwards in the SUM folder. My start system is using kernel 721 ext as of December 2013. But in SUM 1.0 SP 10, it explicitly ask for an updated R3trans in one of the beginning phase.
Now that I am restarting the whole update with SUM 1 SP 9, it didnt ask for an updated R3trans. Lets hope that this will work.

Dear Customer, If it is from April/2014 onwards, please replace it with an older | ||

Hi Roc,
I did the same thing as you! I started with the SPS10 and then My second run was with SPS09. Which is the current one. So the problem wasn't related to SUM, but the R3trans itself. I think even you using the SPS10 and replace back the previous R3trans, it will allow you to continue the patching.
Cheers,
Hello,
I'm in the same situation. I'm currently updating solman 7.1 to the last SPS available (SPS 11).
I'm using SUM SP10.
I tried to replace R3trans.exe file located in S:\usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64 but when I relaunched (with INIT option), it still failed.
Do you have any idea ?
Thanks !
Jovani
Hi Igor Chang,
Your solution worked for me as well.
The error was at the MAIN_TRANSEXEC/TABIM_TRANS PHASE while using SUM tool 10 PL3.I used the latest kernel version 7.21_EXT NUC with latest Tp and R3trans.

Solution :
The solution was to go copy the R3trans and TP, one level below the latest level and the PHASE continued.
Hello all,
same procedure here. The right answer helped me out.
I had troubles with R3trans version with compile time 4th of may (R3trans 741UC, 33) - exactly the same error message as initially.
After finding this thread I was searching in SAP portal (SWDC) and SAP seems to have reverted the newer R3trans version with a bit older release 28 (at least for my kernel branch), compile time 31th of march.
This version R3trans 741_UC, v28 is actually working (within SUM 1.0 SP10.5) and the error seems to be eleminated.
Thank you for sharing this,
best regards,
Ingo

Hi
The error is still there with SUM 1.0 SP 10 patch 5 (09.05.2014).
On an Aix/Oracle system SUM asks to upgrade to the latest R3trans version (currently SP 229 - 29.04.2014) ... but the [MAIN_SHDIMP/SUBMOD_SHDIMP/SHADOW_IMPORT_INC ] phase can only be processed using R3trans 7.21 SP 201.
Hopefully SCN was there and I did not need to search too much
BYTW I had the same bad surprise with SAP support on a message
On public holidays only VH's will be taken care.
I thought SAP support was supposed to be worldwide, and I get the same answer but for Chinese new year !

Hi Yves,
I know right!
When they finally replied more than 18 hours, I have already restarted the whole upgrade using older SUM version.
And that's not the only thing I was pissed. After I logged the high message and they did not reply, I went on to logged a new Very High message. And I put my mobile phone right beside me.
Surprisingly, half an hour later, my message was downgraded to High. And that's because some "very smart" SAP consultant decided to call my office number twice when I have already provided my mobile number there...sigh... and the reason why I didn't pick up the office call is because it's also a public holiday in my country and I am working from home.
Until now, I still have the feeling that they purposely did that so that they can downgrade the message.
I am so disappointed with SAP support. The price that SAP customer is paying just don't gel with the support quality that we are getting now.
Hello all,
same error here:
Error in phase SHADOW_IMPORT_INC with R3trans Version 721 Ext UC v229
I have replaced only R3trans with Version 212 (because no new Version is available on marketplace) and the phase continued and hoepfully will finish without errors
SUM version: 1.0.10.4
Regards
Michael
This seems to be issue with the R3trans. Please update the R3trans to a lower version.
Please note that in the phase the R3trans which is being used is from the the directory
../SUM/abap/exe/ , so you need to update the R3trans in this directory.

Hi Roc,
Before use of SUM1.0 SP09 better to take backup for SUM 1.0 SP10 for SAP support reference.

Gaurav

Hi,
If possible for you try to use SUM 1.0 SP09 instead of SP10 as of some issues with this SP.

Gaurav
