Hello,

In the MRP-3 view of a particular material I have selected strategy 20 making it a pure make to order production. I enter a PIR's for this material in MD61 and then run MRP. As a result of planning run i see planned orders against this PIR's. I can also convert these planned orders to process orders with out ref to any sales order. How can this happenNow I feel that this is a total violation of make to order strategy...Any possible explanations for this>??

Hi,

When you say it is MTO strategy , why are you entering the PIR in the tcode ; MD61 ?

In MTO scenario Customer order should be your demand el;ement and not the PIR's.

If you enter the forecast in MD61 with say requirement type as LSF, system will allow you to convert the planned orders into Process Orders after the MRP run. This is the normal behaviour of SAP. When you use the strategy 20 in materials master , try creating the Forecast in MD61 withour requirment type and check the same.

Hope this will help you.

Dear,

Yes you are right,

Even though the plannning strategy is MTO 20.

If you enter PIR in MD61 for the same material with req type LSF which is shown in MD61 front page a nd create the PIR and Planned order also.

In md61 screen top left goto requirement parameter setting or in md61 initial screen press button F5. Now you can see the requirement type field make it blank and try.

Hi,

System is not violating any thing. It's natural behaviour in case of Strategy Group 20 as it is purely MTO strategy i.e. in this strategy, PIR have no significance means you need to work with reference to Sales order only in case of strategy 20.If you want to work with PIR's only better you use MTS strategy 10 /11.

Make to Order means you will be able to get production order only against Sales Order ( i.e. Order type PP02).So obviously system is giving you planned orders but they are not convertible to production order without Sales order.

Hope your doubt is cleared reg. MTO.

Dear,

Also in OMPJ make it error for invalid requirements type.

On which version are you working?

Please check the setting of requirement class in OVZG?
