Stock reconciliation with DWMS

Hi,

I am looking for experiences of implementing stock reconciliation (stock file) with the DWMS system. The only solution I see for this is to program ABAP that would compare the figures in the file from the external WMS to the stock figures in our SAP ERP system and generate adjustment movements.

I wonder however if there's a standard SAP solution for this, particularly in their DWMS concept.

TIA

Raf

I have no experience with DWMS, but looking at OSS note 1546978 makes me understand that the standard LX23 works as well in a decentralized WM system

Thanks, Jürgen.

But I am not sure. The note starts with the words "Transaction LX23 is executed in a decentral system". Note that the "decentral" system is the WMS system (that runs SAP). Hence one can understand that the stocktaking in the decentral WMS (SAP) system can be initiated using trs LX23.

In our case, the decentral system is not SAP; so I wonder how the stocktaking (or actually stock reconciliation) shall be triggered in the central system.

I have nevertheless tried LX23 in our system and got the message "Incorrect Customizing in connection with decentralized warehouse" (L9516). Among other things, the long text of the message says "A warehouse number cannot be marked as "decentral" when the plant/storage location are assigned to a "central" system."

So it seems like LX23 is not my case - it is really meant for the "decentral" SAP WM systems.

Hi Raf,

It is not only seems but surely LX23 is really meant for the "decentral" SAP WM systems. That is because, no application can support reconciliation with an external system. SAP is not an exception.

You may need IDOC or any other add-on to get your job done. I do not think there is any exiting function can meet your requirement.

Thanks,

Gordon

Hi Gordon,

I don't understand what you mean by "no application can support reconciliation with an external system". This is exactly what I am going to do in ABAP (and have already done for another client that communicates with external WMS system without the DWMS solution).

I will get a flat file with stock figures from the external system, let ABAP compare the figures to the stock in SAP and then generate material movements to close the differences.
