Dear Experts,
I have come across few other old threads on this question, but none of them has an answer to it- hence posting it again.
We are a factory making industrial pumps. These pumps are quite huge, and hence when manufactured and tested, they need to be disassembled into several parts - which are then placed in separate pallets. These pallets are then individually planned for shipment and sent out to the customer's site. The disassembled parts are then once again assembled together by the engineers.
Does SAP offer any solution for this? The situation gets even more tricky especially when the order quantity is 1 piece. How can we create multiple handling units for this one piece of the end product?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Rahul Sharma,
you cannot pack parts of the pump, e.g.
Normally quantity based unit of measurement like piece are whole numbers without decimals.
But you have to pack the components of the pump, e.g.

Hello Baris, Thanks for your input!
Yes, we are not considering creating the Handling Units for decimal pieces.
What we are looking for is if there is an established process (set of transactions) to handle this kind of a business requirement.
End product: Industrial Pump
Components required to manufacture one Pump: could be in hundreds
The end product is manufactured and tested, and then disassembled into three parts, namely - outer casing, core and shaft. These three parts are neither the components, nor the output of the Production Orders. The Production Order gives just one piece of the industrial pump.
Is there a process to somehow 'disassemble' this one PC of industrial pump into three parts (=casing, core and shaft for example) and then prepare three HUs for Outbound Delivery. Ideally, it should also be somehow updated in the document flow of the Outbound Delivery.
I get this feeling from some googling and after discussing with some colleagues working for other clients that this is a common requirement from the heavy machinery manufacturing industry where the end products cannot be shipped as one single shipment.
