Dear Rajavelu,

Do you mean that you have self life for your finished product as well as for raw material.

So when you wil do GI for your raw materail system will search according to the self life mentioned for it according to ur batch search startegy So system will search your raw material according to ur self life of its batch even in Backflushing also.

Pls revert if any problem

SHELF LIFE CONCEPT

I) First Case:

Prerequisites:

The shelf life expiration date of a material can only be entered in the Goods Movement documents if:

1) The minimum remaining shelf life is maintained in the material master record. The minimum remaining shelf life is the time the material must still be usable, so that the goods receipt is accepted by the system.

2) The Total Shelf Period is to be mainatained in the material master : Period for which the material will keep in total, that is, from the date of production to the shelf life expiration date.

We can define the time unit the system uses in the storage data of the material master record in the Period ind. field.

3) The shelf life expiration date check is active in the plant

4) The shelf life expiration date check is active for the movement type

i) At the time of Goods receipt:

If the shelf life check expiration date check is active, you must enter the shelf life expiration date or the production date of the material at the time of a goods receipt. At the time of goods receipt, the system checks whether the remaining shelf life is sufficient. If this is not the case, a warning or error message is issued, depending on the system settings. When the goods receipt is posted, the shelf life expiration date is recorded in the material document.

II) Second Case:

Prerequisites:

1) The shelf life expiration date check is active in the plant

2) The shelf life expiration date check is active for the movement type

i) Materials handled in batches:

For materials handled in batches, the expiration date is also stored in the batch master record.

For a further goods receipt for a batch, the shelf life expiration date entered or determined with the movement is compared with the one from the batch master record. If the dates differ, a warning or error message is issued, depending on the system settings. If the goods receipt is posted despite any warning, the old shelf life expiration date in the batch master record is overwritten by the new one.

In the case of Goods Issue, the ssytem compares the posting date / present system date with the expiration date available in the Batch Master. If this date is beyond the expiration date, then the system will issue the message.

1) When shelf life is activated, is it mandatory to enter expiration date on a base oil during good receipt of a purchase order, or after good receipt done we can enter expiration date on batch itself on transaction MCS2N?

A) Expiration date can b entered during / after the goods receipt and even through the transaction MCS2N. But it must be entered before any Goods Issue.

2) When shelf life is activated, will it be affective for all materials? Because we want to follow the expiration of some materials, which are %10 of all.

A) yes, it will be active for all the materials. But the shelf life check will be carried during the Goods issue, only if the expiration date of the material is maintained in the Batch master. Hence there will not be any specifc concern with the material type and material.

As already explained, the Shelf life check works on the logic of comparing the present date with the expiration date provided in the Batch Master.
