SAP variant configuration learning suggestion

Hi experts,

I a mechanical design engineer. Our company is now start using SAP system, I have already learned the basic theory and operation for our product desin like ECTR and IPPE. Now I want to learn variant configuration knowledge and use it in our product design, Do you have any suggestion where should I start, what basic knowledge should I learn. Most importantly where can I find some simple examples about variant configuration used in product design.

Well, to start with VC and you want to implement in product design, first step is to list out the number of machine models in your organization and list down the standard specifications and optional features offered in your machines. You should be having clear understanding of what is a standard feature and an optional feature. Also, clear definition of Class & characteristic. Basic t-codes required for VC.

Understand the basic difference between Precondition, Procedure dependencies and start writing the syntax by reference examples. Test in CU50 transaction whether it is behaving correctly or not,
