Hi Community,
What’s the “modification” policy in S/4HANA EX (STE) environment regarding corrections?
For example, customer is aware these listed SAP notes are kind of standard corrections, but there are also included many manual tasks which will cause some repair objects etc. to be appearing in the system. This means technically, that we will most likely face these also within upcoming upgrades (SPDD/SPAU).
The objects are in SAP’s namespace and standard corrections, but they want to make sure how to manage this kind of cases in general
626235 - Tax postings with accounting BAPIs Version 17 from 13.05.2020 in English
2070697 - Filling tax information for BAPIs Version 54 from 08.05.2020 in English
Are these notes applicable for S/4HANA Extended - and what is the recommended approach (if any) for private cloud?
Request clarification before answering.
Hello Praba,
If suggested by SAP Notes, modifications/corrections to SAP objects are under SAP's namespace, and undergoing a quality process. During an upgrade, they can be easily dealt with within SPAU/SPDD.
What the modifications we mostly concerned about are done by customers. For that, we have published an SAP Note: Extensibility Guide for SAP S/4HANA Cloud, extended edition - https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2920697. This guideline will help to guide customers to avoid certain practices so that future frequent upgrades can go through smoothly. This can help reducing the TCO of a cloud solution like SAP S/4HANA Cloud, extended edition.
Best Regards,
George

Hi Praba,
It is really important to follow the 5 Golden Rules. Guidance for a successful S/4HANA Cloud, extended edition implementation can be achieved by following SAP Activate.
Regarding modifications, SAP Activate recommends establishing the Solution Standardization Board which ensures transparency on deviations (modifications included).
More details here:
I recommend also the blog on how to identify modifications in S/4HANA Cloud, extended edition
I hope this brings more clarity.
Kind regards,
Costi
