Hi Guys
I just got trained on SAP MM, and the writing sap mm functional specification has been a big problem to me. I have came across many question on this and have seen similar answers to it but still don't get it.
Please, as a new person and someone who don't know what is this all about and have not seen example. Can someone please tell me what this is all about a written example and please a link and where I can learn about this comprehensively. I have seen a mere sample and template how it looks like, please now in a reall life I want to know how this looks like with example specifically in sap mm
Request clarification before answering.
Krishna has explained you well about what FS is. Remember that FS is tobe prepared by functional guy means through business process and requirement need to be catured in this document. various sections could be
1.Title
2. Version Management (Initial Draft, review, Approved, Changes etc)
3. Business requirement
4. Benefits
5. Process
6. proposed layout, selection screens etc
7. Scope of requirement and development
8. Security related information
9. Number of users using this new functionality/report etc
This is not a standard format and may change from customer to customer.

Hi Kennedy,
Functional specification (FS) is a documents which you convert business requirements into SAP functional terminology. if required this FS will then be used by technical folks (ABAPer) to write down Technical Specification (TS).
Now to give you an example, if your customer/client provides you with business requirement document to create a report for capturing changes to purchasing document say PO. You need to write down which fields/tables has to be considered and what will be the logic involved in capturing the entries.
Once you provide this info in FS, technical folks will then convert your logic into ABAP.
Of course, for the junior level consultant seek the approval/review from Senior for FS et al.
All the best for your career.
BR,
Krishna
