SAP Business One Mailer and Office 365 configuration (TLS 1.2)

Hello Everybody

I've set up SAP B1 in order to send mail and alert using B1_Mailer but, even if the connection parameters are right (I tried with https://www.gmass.co/smtp-test and all goes right) on SAP mail cannot be sent

Here the error:

SMTP server does not support login authentication! Try plain or no authentication. Received response: 504 5.7.4 Unrecognized authentication type [ZR0P278CA0049.CHEP278.PROD.OUTLOOK.COM]

Sysadmin told me to check if Mailer works on TLS 1.2....

Any hints?

Thanks

Dear giuseppe.moglia5,

Refer to the SAP Business One Administrator's Guide where it is mentioned:

In SAP Business One, the following components share the same Tomcat:

• System Landscape Directory

• License Service (HTTPS)

• Job Service

• Extension Manager

The components enforce secure connections via HTTPS encryption with TLS version 1.0 or 1.1 or 1.2.

Since, the job service manages the following settings on the server side:

• SBO Mailer settings

• Alert and scheduling settings

I do not think, there should be any problem while using SBO Mailer with TLS 1.2.

Also, refer to the section- 10.4.2.1.4 SBO Mailer

The SBO Mailer is connected to the SMTP server. We recommend that you use SSL/TLS encryption for the SMTP server connection. If you use SSL/TLS encryption, you must select Microsoft .Net for SMTP Client during the SBO Mailer configuration. The version of the SSL/TLS protocol depends on your operating system and the version of the installed Microsoft .Net Framework. For more information about securely configuring the SSL/TLS protocol, see Transport Layer Security (TLS) best practices with the .Net Framework.

Apart from that, once your Office 365 configuration would work with Outlook then you can use the same with SAP Business One Mailer. There should not be an issue with mailer itself because mailer is working with correct configuration already.

As you have mentioned that SAP Business One Mailer is working with first mailer configuration, which clarifies that mailer should not have any issue but only the configuration needs to be checked. Kindly check the mailer configuration with any another third party email client like Outlook or Thunderbird and see if you will be able to send email successfully. SAP Business One Mailer is only an email application which works correctly with your correct mailer configuration.

Refer to SAP Note 2340580 whether it helps or not.

In case the issue persists, you can raise an incident for SAP Business One Support Team and my colleagues can assist you further in this regards.

Kind regards,
