Hi,

Pooled capacity

A pooled capacity can be assigned to several work centers. It is created and edited independently of the work center. This is useful if, for instance, a group of employees works in several work centers.

Just like work center capacities, for more detailed capacity planning you can assign HR-objects to pool capacities and so prescribe a qualification or employee.

Reference Capacity

A reference capacity is used to simplify the maintenance of work center capacities. It is used to copy or reference an available capacity from. Reference capacities are created and maintained separately from work centers.

Hello Guys,

Thanks for the info provided.

Please correct me if my understanding is wrong.

Pooled capacity example : Capacity named Wipro has 10 people working for 8 hrs per day. So in a week the WIPRO capacity is 400 hrs.

I assign this capacity to 4 work centres.

As a result, I see the capacity of each work centre is 400 hrs. System doesnt give any error saying the capacity has been assigned to different workcentre and hence no capacity is left out.

If system doesnt work this way, then how pooled capacity can help me?

The same thing can be done with reference capacity. I just need to copy the reference capacity to these four different work centres. The result would be the same as with pooled capacity.

So, whats the difference between the two??

Please suggest.

Cheers

Hi,

Pooled capacitty is the specific machines or persons will be available in that work center. Depends on the requirement we can assign the job to them. Suppose all technician will come under pooled capacity they may not be in one centralised work center they can be available in different work centers. this data will be available in HR module.

A pooled capacity can be assigned to several work centers. It is created and edited independently of the work center. This is useful if, for instance, a group of employees works in several work centers.

The reference capacity is used to analyse the capacity utilisation of workcenters for aperiod.

A reference capacity is used to simplify the maintenance of work center capacities. It is used to copy or reference an available capacity from. Reference capacities are created and maintained separately from work centers.

In additon to these capacities we have Work center capacities and Default capacities too...
