Receiving storage location for KMAT

Hi, 

my customer uses to different material types for configurable materials. Both material types have been copied from the standard material type KMAT. 

I get that in theory, the only way to maintain a receiving storage location for KMAT is in the production version.

However, when posting a goods receipt for a production order for one material type, the storage location is identified automatically (without it being maintained in the production version!). This is how it should ideally work, of course.

For the second material type (which is identical to the other one and KMAT), the storage location is not defined automatically. Do you have any idea why?

Hi srivijaya, the storage location in the production order is only populated for material type KMOT (for which the receiving storage location is found automatically when posting a goods receipt). I assume, the automatic population of the storage location in the production order has the same origin as in the app "Post Goods Movements".

Hi Annika,

I am not sure why there is inconsistency in behaviour. I did not try to replicate your custom scenario. My suggestion would be to compare all the remaining master data elements to make sure that both of them have the same data set. If they have exactly the same data set, behavior should be same. If this is not the case, send a ticket to SAP.

How are you? For the Produced Materials, you can maintain the "Production Storage Location" with the Storage Location where the Material will be placed after Production Process. This Field (Prod. Stor. Location) is in MRP2 View, for the Plant, for the Material Master Data.
