Dear Gurus,
Really I am confusing about depreciation. Please let me have idea on depreciation.
Usually in straight line dep. method dep. calculation will happen on useful life.
Ex:- Asset value-1000 USD
Useful life- 10 Years
Dep. per year- 1000/10=100 USD
Here no need to use dep. rates. Then why are we using dep. % and how this %'s will calculate dep.
I am very greatful to the peron who will clarifies my doubt.
Thanks in advance
NMB
Hi NMB
for depreciation which should be based on useful life there is no need to maintain percentage. you have to select the right base method ( percentage from useful life).. in the multi level method where percentage i maintained.... you should maintain 0%....
if you cant get the desired result from above answer please reply back and I will send u the detailed config step for depreciation from useful life.
thanks

Dear Sanjeev,
First of all thanks for your reply. In our organisation we are using straight line dep. method. Is there any need to maintain dep.% in the dep. key?
I think it's enough to enter the useful life in asset master. System calculates the dep. according to the useful life.
Let me know whether I am right or wrong on the above query.
Please do provide the config also as it will be useful to me.
Once again thanks to you
NMB
Dear NMB
yes the useful life in asset master needs to be maintained where dep is caculated based on useful life. The base method should be percentage from useful life and method of depreciation should be straight line method. i believe sap has a standard dep key which is configured for dep based on useful life nevertheless i will reply in the same blog with detailed information for configuration.
thanks
sanjeev
